about

Nick: Out of all the directions we hope this record pulls you in, "Bones" is definitely the track that holds it together. I feel we really hit our stride putting this one together.

Tom: Despite its length, this song actually changed the least from the first time we jammed on it. I believe my exact words were " I want to do a song on the hi hat", and then out came "Bones".

Tyler: A prog rock song by a band that has no business playing prog rock. The ending riff slays me every time.

lyrics

Caught a glimpse of burning stars
Endless nights at seedy bars
Blurry faces cannot see
Future’s hands are only ours

Screamed at your reflection’s eyes
Saw myself a vagrant fly
Flying over piles of bones
Knew the reason but begged “Why?”

It’s a goddamn shame that this is how it is
You and I being torn away
But it’s never gonna change, now is it?
Never see the light of day
We were standing tall like giants on the earth
What we knew was the only way
But it’s never gonna happen, now is it

Saw my friends turn into sand
Burned their names on foreign land
God-shaped holes are hard to fill
Collapse into your dying hand

Flung myself into the sea
Dreamed of better days for me
Swimming in a sea of bones
Drowning in what I believe
